Anti-aging benefits of PQQ may extend beyond antioxidant effects, new research finds

New mouse study suggests pyrroloquinoline quinone (PQQ) and its derivative imidazopyrroloquinoline (IPQ) may support anti-aging benefits, improve healthspan, and reduce midlife mortality risk by enhancing mitochondrial function, reducing oxidative stress, and suppressing inflammatory signaling (NF-κB). In SAMP8 mouse models, both lifelong and midlife supplementation preserved muscle function, delayed sarcopenia, improved fat metabolism, and slowed visible aging, indicating potential to promote healthier aging and extended lifespan.
