Humansdorp Museum in Humansdorp, South Africa

The Humansdorp Museum preserves everyday objects from the town’s early history, some dating back to its founding in 1849, when Matthys Gerhardus Human donated part of his farm Rheboksfontein for the construction of a Dutch Reformed Church. The collection focuses on domestic life rather than grand events. Visitors can grind coffee beans by hand, type a letter on a working typewriter, and browse household items from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. One of the highlights is a Chicago Cottage air pump organ from around 1879, which is still playable. The museum also maintains a local reputation for a resident ghost, occasionally mentioned during guided visits.
