I can't get the Pixel's Now Playing feature on my Android phone, but one of my long-time favorite apps gets the job done

Now Playing on the Pixel is such a convenient feature for recognizing music playing around you. However, I don't really use Pixel phones on a daily basis, so I rely on this nearly 20-year-old app instead.
