Synbiotic supplement may reduce signs of skin aging: Vidya study
A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study found that an antioxidant-rich synbiotic supplement significantly improved skin elasticity, firmness, and reduced wrinkle severity in women over eight weeks, without adverse effects. The supplement, containing astaxanthin, konjac glucomannan, and other ingredients, was shown to act through the gut-skin axis by reducing oxidative stress and inflammation, and preserving collagen and elastin. These findings support the potential of oral synbiotic supplementation as a safe, non-invasive strategy for managing skin aging and improving dermatological health.
