Tesla's Semi Has the Range. The Chargers Are the Problem
Tesla finally has a 500-mile electric truck rolling off a real production line, and the thing works. The problem is that a truck rated for 500 miles per charge still needs somewhere to plug in, and the network that would make cross-country electric freight possible barely exists. Tesla's own website shows two public megawatt chargers running around Los Angeles, which is not a network so much as a rounding error. That gap is the whole story of electric trucking right now. The vehicle is the easy part. The infrastructure is not.
