"The Storm" Dallas Arts District Mural in Dallas, Texas

The Storm is a masterpiece of swirling painted concrete figures conducted by a wild-haired maestro -- representing the chaos of the artist's process.

The entire mural took two-person business team Eyecon (both graduates of nearby Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts) one year to complete by May of 1997.

The mural sits on the side of 717 Leonard Parking Garage and covers 120 feet x 150 feet of vertical space. Ground level viewing requires standing nearly across the entire parking lot to consider the image in its entirety (most enjoyably with  a coffee in hand). The steps of the Winspear Opera House offer another prime viewing spot. 

Fun fact: The conductor is modeled off muralist Chris Arnold's dad. All other featured figures are local artists.
