Architecture billings nearly rebound in February. Is growth finally within reach?

Oh, so close: U.S. architecture firms almost reported an increase in billings last month, as the newly released AIA/Deltek Architecture Billings Index indicates. While the February score of 49.4 ultimately stopped short of the magical 50.0 threshold (any score below 50.0 indicates a decline in billings compared to the previous month), it still managed to improve significantly from January's disappointing 43.8 and marks the best-performing data point in more than a year. 

According to the AIA report, new project inquiries bounced back from a January slump, and newly signed design contracts showed a "significant" slowing of the ongoing decline. 

AIA Chief Economist Richard Branch acknowledges that current trends suggest potential stabilization but warns that global economic uncertainty could disrupt this progress.
