Brad Pitt signs on as executive producer for Wim Wenders’ Peter Zumthor documentary

Brad Pitt has come on board Wim Wenders‘ new documentary, From Inside Out — The Architecture of Peter Zumthor as an executive producer [...]. In the doc, shot over the past 14 years, Wenders (Pina, Buena Vista Social Club) moves through the buildings of the Pritzker Prize-winning Swiss architect, from the first family homes he designed in the Alps to the sprawling new Los Angeles County Museum of Art, which he completed this year.

While rumors of a Wenders documentary about Peter Zumthor have circulated on Archinect since at least 2012, the project was publicly confirmed in 2020.

Brad Pitt, a vocal architecture enthusiast (he was a key figure behind the Make It Right initiative in New Orleans), emerged as a prominent advocate for LACMA's Zumthor-designed and recently completed makeover in Los Angeles. "His support, which included speaking at a decisive L.A. County hearing in 2019, was considered key in getting the project over the line," The Hollywood Reporter states.

Besides LACMA, the documentary will also include other well-known Zumthor projects, such as the Therme Vals spa, the Kolumba Art Museum, the Bruder Klaus Chapel, as well as the failed (and now demolished) Topography of Terror museum.

From Inside Out — The Architecture of Peter Zumthor is scheduled to premiere at the Venice Film Festival next month.
