César Pelli's final project is completed with curving Argentina cultural center

Pelli Clarke & Partners has completed the Lola Mora Cultural Center in San Salvador de Jujuy, Argentina. The scheme marks the final project led by the firm’s late founder César Pelli and its first cultural building in South America.

Located on a 1.3-hectare site at the foot of the Andes, the center is dedicated to Argentine sculptor Lola Mora. The project’s completion brings together six of Mora’s monumental Carrara marble sculptures for the first time in more than a century.

The museum is situated within the subtropical Yunga forest overlooking San Salvador de Jujuy. The design's curving, predominantly horizontal form follows the site’s topography and navigates an existing grove of native trees.
