Fay Jones School of Architecture and Design appoints James C. Stevens as dean

The University of Arkansas has appointed James C. Stevens as dean of the Fay Jones School of Architecture and Design, effective 15th August. Stevens succeeds Peter MacKeith, who will return to the faculty to focus on the school’s growing initiatives in timber design innovation, as we reported late last year.
Stevens joins the university from Clemson University, where he served as a professor in the School of Architecture and was the school director between 2020 and 2025. Before joining Clemson, Stevens was chair of the Department of Architecture at Lawrence Technological University, where he founded makeLab, the institution’s digital fabrication laboratory.
