Inside COOKFOX’s new Bruce Springsteen Center for American Music

The Bruce Springsteen Center for American Music has opened at Monmouth University in New Jersey. Designed by COOKFOX, the 30,000-square-foot scheme explores the history of American music through the lens of Bruce Springsteen’s career and cultural impact.

The two-story structure is clad in weathering steel panels intended to reference New Jersey’s industrial heritage. Inside, a mass timber structure constructed from glue-laminated and cross-laminated European spruce is left exposed throughout much of the building. A double-height entrance hall, illuminated by floor-to-ceiling glazing, organizes circulation between the galleries and auditorium.
