Trump arch approval: Golden lions out, triad of tackiness still in

To the surprise of literally no one, the U.S. Commission of Fine Arts yesterday granted its final approval for Trump's Triumphal Arch pet project.
Following the April release of further details on the proposed 250-foot structure, the commission, composed of Trump appointees, voted at their Thursday meeting not only to advance the plan at a conceptual level for further review but instead to sign off on it right away.
The body acknowledged, and successfully disregarded, some 600 new written public comments on the proposal, only three of which were in favor. Opposing groups, including preservation groups and local residents, were also present during the meeting, which took place at D.C.'s National Building Museum.
A lawsuit filed earlier this year by a group of Vietnam War veterans seeks to block the project, arguing that its immense size and placement halfway between the Lincoln Memorial and the Arlington National Cemetery ...
