Trump taps Ye to overhaul White House West Wing

President Trump has floated plans to commission Ye (formerly Kanye West) to overhaul the West Wing of the White House.

The move would be the latest in Trump’s controversial alterations to the White House, most notably the demolition of the East Wing for the construction of a new ballroom. 

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said that Ye would create a “big beautiful ‘West’ Wing,” an apparent pun on the artist’s former name.

Trump also used the post to take aim at California Governor Gavin Newsom, incorrectly claiming that Newsom was responsible for Ye’s controversial gutting of a Tadao Ando-designed multimillion-dollar Malibu mansion. Following Ye’s failed overhaul, the home was recently relisted for sale.
